Funny enough, it’s been raining all week in my area. As much as my family needs it for coastal and plentiful fields, I’ve grown annoyed with it. I haven’t been able to ride my horses like normal because of the slick grass and flooded arenas. The humidity has made my hair crazy and the storms have ruined some of my plans.
I started researching the symbolism of rain; especially in the Bible. One lesson that God teaches us through rain is patience. Rain falls in various seasons, which are supposed to represent seasons of abundance for the Christian who obeys the Lord.
In our reality, just as He faithfully enables rain to fall on the ground at the proper time, He may cause things to happen for us at the right moment according to His perfect will. Rain is implied to represent a season of waiting in the Bible because it does not rain all year.
So as I sit here writing this and watching the rain fall, I’m reminded of all the times God has redirected my plans towards something better. He knows when the Earth needs rain. He knows when we need to be taught to wait for the better things ahead. He knows when we need to take a break even when we don’t think we need to.
Rain is also suggested to represent a changing of seasons in the Bible. Rain indicates that the drought season has ended and that a season of fruitfulness and abundance is on its way. It reminds Christians that no season is permanent and that God can move us from one level to the next with His might.
As we settle into this new season I pray that you all see what God has in store for you. It may be a season of winning or of learning and patience. There are always greater things to come.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unfailing love for us, Your blessings, and goodness. Thank You for Your faithfulness to guide us and see us through times of uncertainty, for lifting us up, and keeping us going. Thank You for Scripture that comforts and reminds us of Your promises, plans, and provisions. Thank you for taking away our fears and worries, the what-ifs, and reminding us that our help comes from You. Help us to trust You and Your plan in this big scary world. Thank You for all Your blessings, the rain, the sunshine, our friends, this organization, and those that we consider family.
In Your name we pray,
Amen
